Christmas Cards

It's time to start thinking about Christmas cards again.  I mentioned before that we've already got Margaret's dress for holiday pictures.  My first thought was to do a family picture of the three of us, but I feel like I've waited too long to get a photographer, so I'm just going to take Margaret's picture myself and insert a photo of all of us from our shoot this summer.

I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with an idea for this year's card.  I'm so pleased with how last year's came out that it's going to be tough to beat.  Last year was Margaret's first Christmas, and we did this:

It was a big hit.  We used Shutterfly's folded 5x7 cards, and with all the great coupon codes they frequently email their members, we got them for a steal.  I especially loved the pretty border around the front of the card.

I have a few different ideas for this year.  I was considering taking Margaret up to the red rocks where we had our wedding portraits taken.  Or I might drag the Christmas tree out into the front yard and decorate it and get her picture with that.  Being a (very) amateur photographer, I love outdoor lighting for pictures.  It smooths out all the imperfections for me.

I'll probably end up just snapping a million photos and then going from there.  It's too stressful trying to shoot with a theme in mind.  My bull-headed strong-willed child just isn't into it.

I've been looking through this year's offerings on Shutterfly, and I really like these simple cards.  When you've got a subject as cute as Margaret, you let the photo take the stage. ; )

I think I'll shoot for taking some pictures of her this weekend.  Wish me luck!  (Heaven knows I'll need it...)
